Lamarr Wilson’s Profile:

Lamarr Wilson, President and Tech Consultant of SchoolTech Consulting, Inc., is a product of the Chicago Public School system, and it was there where his interest in technology began. He was taken under the wing of the technology coordinator of his high school, and he served as a student technology assistant. After graduating with honors and receiving more advanced technology business training thru classes & sales work, he entered the education field. After working with children in both Seattle & Milwaukee, he returned to Chicago and worked as an instructor for 6 years at a public elementary school; he worked his last 3 years as the school’s Technology Coordinator, mirroring the job that his first mentor had. His first project was creating a school website, which opened up the world to the students and generated much interest in the community and beyond. He assisted the Principal with technology consulting, resulting in each classroom having a wireless Internet computer, as well as each floor having a mobile lab of 25 laptops each. He assisted in the writing, developing, and implementation the school’s technology plan. In addition, he took the lead in providing staff development & support to the teachers and students on technology use and its benefits. Before long, many schools began calling him for assistance in their schools, and he realized that he had to serve these schools in another capacity.

Lamarr left the public school system in early 2006 to start a consulting firm. He realized that the technology gap that our schools are dealing with was not improving. Both students and teachers were inadequately prepared to integrate technology into their learning/teaching. Observing this technology gap, especially with minority students, he set out to duplicate what was achieved at his former school with as many schools as possible. He currently serves as a consultant for over 50 schools, including a district level client with 25+ schools, assisting in technology integration and training, as well as school/district level website management.
